‘How did I come to be here? Bridport 2009

This installation invites the viewer to engage with the artist’s father’s memories of his experience of solitary confinement in prison in the Soviet Union during the Holocaust, and the subsequent impact his experience had on her. Using her father’s text as a starting point it explores the complex dynamic of the father/daughter relationship and investigates the concept of home, refuge and dislocation.

Commissioned to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, this multi-media installation uses video, sound and text and incorporates a curated selection of the late Stanislaw Brunsteins’s paintings.
